Mimiko hails INEC, voters over permanent card exercise

 
 ONDO State Governor Olusegun Mimiko has lauded the impressive turnout of the people and the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for its activeness during the distribution of permanent voters’ cards exercise which ended in the state yesterday, even as he urged those who have not registered to do so this weekend.
  Dr. Mimiko spoke after the State resident electoral commissioner, Mr. Akin Orebiyi at Ward 7, Unit 20 in Ondo at the weekend, presented him with his permanent voters’ cards in company with his wife, Kike Mimiko.
   The governor, who spoke with newsmen shortly after collecting his card described the exercise as successful, stressing that the information he received from across the State indicated that the people turned out en masse for the exercise.
  Mimiko described the voters’ card as the power of the electorates to choose credible people that would govern and represent them in the various political capacities. 
His words: “ I encourage everybody to go out and collect their voters’ cards and urge those who are yet to register to do so when the exercise commences on Friday because this is the powerful tool in the hands of the voter, with it, you will be able to make your choice on election day. My information is that without this permanent voters’ card, you will not be allowed to vote in subsequent election in Nigeria.
